Music to me is like breathing - I don’t get tired of breathing, I don’t get tired of music.

How does Music Therapy work?

Music therapy can happen in a variety of ways based on each client’s needs. Therapeutic goals may be targeted through any of these seven domains: physical, cognitive, emotional, spiritual, musical, behavioural, and communication.  An initial assessment session will help to determine in which direction the therapy could proceed. Please contact us to book your assessment session.

What is involved in Music Therapy?

Many different elements can be involved in the music therapy process. What is done in therapy is entirely dependent on the client's needs and goals.

What is the difference between Music Education and Music Therapy?

Music Education involves learning the technical skills and theoretical applications needed to read sheet music and play the piano. Piano lessons provide you with the tools necessary to master the keyboard, while learning to read music and understand rhythm. Theory lessons have a direct application to piano lessons in that theory teaches you how to read and write music, understand rhythm and harmony, and to apply that knowledge to your keyboard playing.

Music Therapy is music as therapy; it’s the therapeutic application of music to promote physical and emotional well-being.

Without music, life would be a mistake.
— Friedrich Nietzsche

Why are Music Therapy sessions differently priced than Music Education lessons?

There are numerous assessments and more in-depth session planning involved in the music therapy process. The goals of therapy and education may also be different. The therapeutic process involves specific elements that provide for the physical and emotional well being of the client. Music education focuses on the technical and cognitive skills needed to learn an instrument, and the practical applications of music theory.
